About Togo
The country of Togo received its name from the village now known as
Togoville. Togolese people are made up predominantly of the Ewe tribe. Other tribes include the Twi speaking people of Central Togo, the Kabyé and the Tamberma.
Togo is noted for its beautiful countryside. The Grande Marche is located in the center of the capital city, Lome, and is a place other West African nationals visit to purchase Togolese goods. This beautiful, mountainous country is one of the smallest countries in the region but is very diverse in both geography and culture.

One of the highlights in Benin is a visit to Ganvie, the village built on stilts over Lake Nokue. Ganvie is referred to as the “Venice of West Africa” and you will be mesmerized as you watch market women row their dugout canoes, piled high with goods.
You will witness the locals shopping on a floating market and watch as fishermen skillfully and artfully throw their nets into Lake Nokue, providing you with a wonderful photo opportunity. This is a “National Geographic” experience and you may pinch yourself in disbelief that you are truly in the midst of it all.
Between Ghana and Benin lies Togo where you will visit the Grand Marche and Marche des Feticheurs (fetish market). On this tour you will experience diverse culture and feel the warmth of the people of these exotic and exciting countries.
Togo Including Ghana
The tour of Ghana and Togo is considered one of our most interesting destinations. In just over a week, you will enjoy Anglophone Ghana and Francophone Togo. In Ghana you will will be greeted with traditional Ghanaian hospitality, visit various historical landmarks (such as the infamous coastal slave castles) and see some breathtaking natural attractions, including Kakum National Park.
After touring Ghana you will travel to the neighboring country of Togo. There you will visit the Grand Marche, Marche des Feticheurs, the Voodoun Market and the village that is home to the 17th century Catholic cathedral which hosted Pope John Paul II during his visit to Togo.
