The first substitute was a fierce wild cat, but capturing it alive proved perilous, leading to many lost lives. A further appeal led to the acceptance of a mature bushbuck (a species of antelope) as the offering. This pivotal moment shaped the core tradition of the Aboakyer festival: the ritualistic, unarmed capture of a live bushbuck.<\/p>\n

The climax of Aboakyer is undoubtedly the spectacular deer hunt. Two traditional warrior groups, the Tuafo (Number One)<\/strong> and the Dentsifo (Number Two) Asafo companies<\/strong>, embark on a thrilling expedition into a nearby game reserve. Their mission? To be the first to catch a live bushbuck using only their bare hands and traditional tactics.<\/p>\n
