Day 2: ABURI BOTANICAL GARDEN Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, then depart for the beautiful Aburi Botanical Gardens. This eco-paradise was created in 1890 for pleasure and scientific research. It is an exceptional habitat for plants and butterflies from all around the world. After leaving Aburi, visit the impressive Woodcarver’s village, a wonderful place to pick up that special souvenir from your trip. Following lunch, depart for a scenic drive to Ho, where you will enjoy dinner and overnight. |

Day 3: FRIENDLY MONKEYS – WLI WATERFALL After breakfast, prepare for an early morning departure for Tafi Atome, a village that has practiced conservation as a culture by keeping their monkeys sacred. You will have the rare and exciting experience of witnessing these endangered animals in large numbers as they live in the wild. Continue on to Wli Waterfalls. Enjoy a hike through the lush greenery of the Agumatsa Forest Reserve where you will cross the same river eleven times to reach the breathtaking falls. Dinner and overnight at your hotel. |

Day 5: SHAI HILLS RESOURCE RESERVE Check out of your hotel after breakfast and depart for the Shai Hills Reserve, which combines nature, conservation, rich cultural interest and archaeological sites with splendid, scenic beauty. Embark on a trek through the savannah plains to view West Africa’s big game: antelopes, bushbucks, kobs, baboons, monkeys and many bird species including the crested eagle, ground hornbill, blank bellied bustard and more. Visit the Obonu Tem and Se Yo caves that serve as home to many animals, but most notably insectivorous bats. You will have the opportunity to learn about the various artifacts that have been found at the site, which is the homeland of the Krobo people. Continue the journey southward to Accra. Dinner and overnight at your hotel. |

Day 7: BOBIRI BUTTERFLY SANCTUARY After breakfast, depart for a visit to the Bobiri Forest Reserve to view the flower gardens designed to attract a variety of butterflies in the forest. Enjoy a hike through the semi-deciduous rain forest which is home to the butterfly population. Learn about the socio-economic and medicinal importance of these tropical trees. Later, depart for a drive to Elmina in the Central Region. Dinner and overnight at your hotel. |

Day 8: KAKUM NATIONAL PARK – CAPE COAST CASTLE After breakfast, depart to explore the historic Denkyira Kingdom, particularly Kakum National Park. Kakum is one of West Africa’s surviving tropical rain forests, spanning over 360sq km and filled with diverse and dense vegetation. A blend of true rainforest and semi deciduous forest, Kakum is the home to over 40 large mammals, 400 bird species and a breathtaking array of butterflies, flora and fauna. The most popular attraction in the forest is the canopy walkway which is made up of seven bridges extending 330m and hanging 40m above the forest floor. You will be given the choice to walk the canopy or enjoy a 2km nature walk through the forest to discover the wide variety of exotic floral species and the medicinal values they offer. After lunch, visit the Cape Coast Castle, which was built by the Swedes in 1653 and later taken over by the British. The castle also houses the West African Historical Museum, established by the Smithsonian Institute in collaboration with the Ghanaian Government in 1994. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight. |

Day 9: ELMINA – ACCRA Check out and depart for a drive along the coast to Accra. Upon arrival, embark on a sightseeing tour of the city. You will drive through the administrative and economic districts of Accra, the capital of Ghana. Over 100 years old, this city has a blend of colonial and modern architecture that summarize her history. You will visit the W. E. B. Dubois Center for Pan African Culture, Independence/Black Star Square and Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. After lunch in a local Ghanaian restaurant, you will end your tour at the Arts Centre where you will have an opportunity to use your bargaining skills to shop from an open-air market for artifacts from Ghana and West Africa. Dinner and overnight at your hotel. |
